Linger lets you save an offer from a brand you met in person to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and follow the brands you liked. This notice explains what we collect, why, who sees it and how to stop. Questions: hello@uselinger.app.
Who we are
Linger runs uselinger.app and is responsible for the data described here. Once we share your email address with a brand you follow, that brand is also responsible for how it uses it.
What we collect when you follow a brand
- Your email address.
- Which brands you followed, at which show, and when.
- A record of your consent: the exact wording you agreed to, when, a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and your browser type.
- The offer code you were given, and whether it was used, with the order value if the brand’s shop reports it.
- Your Wallet pass: whether it is Apple or Google, and when it was saved or removed. For Apple Wallet we also keep the device identifier and update token Apple gives us, so we can update your pass.
Why we use it
- To give you the offer and keep your Wallet pass up to date.
- To share your email address with the brands you follow, so they can send you news and offers. We only do this with your consent, which you give when you follow.
- To send you your offer by email, and a reminder before it ends.
- To show brands how many people followed them and came back to buy.
- To keep the service secure and stop misuse, such as automated sign-ups.
Sharing with brands relies on your consent. Running the service, measuring results and keeping it secure rely on our legitimate interest in providing what you asked for.
Who sees it
- Brands you follow get your email address, which show you followed them at, and whether you used their offer. They don’t see the other brands you follow.
- Apple and Google hold your pass in your Wallet and tell us when it is saved or removed.
- Our service providers, who process data only on our instructions: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Upstash (abuse protection), Resend (email), Sentry (error reports) and PostHog, hosted in the EU (anonymous counts of how stand pages are used, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you). If you accept analytics cookies on this website, Google receives the usage data described under Cookies. When a brand connects its online shop, offer codes and order details pass between Linger and that shop.
We never sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Cookies
The stand page sets two cookies. One remembers you on this phone for up to 400 days, so following another brand is one tap. The other identifies your visit so we can limit misuse. Stand pages have no analytics or advertising cookies.
On this website, and only if you accept, we use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to see how people use the site: pages visited, buttons clicked and your approximate location and device. Its cookies last up to two years. We don’t send it your name or email address, and it isn’t used for advertising. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of each page.
How long we keep it
We keep your details while you follow at least one brand. Ask us and we will delete them. Consent records are kept for as long as we need to show that consent was given.
Your choices and rights
- Unfollow any brand, or all of them, with the “Manage” link on your pass or in any Linger email. The brand stops getting your details from us. To be removed from its own mailing list, use its unsubscribe link.
- Remove the pass from your Wallet at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@uselinger.app.
- If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Booking a pilot
If you use the “Book a pilot” form, we store your name, email, company and message, and use them only to reply to you about Linger.
